There is now a book available covering everything you need to know about DPM 2010. YOu can find full details on the book here, http://www.buchatech.com/dpmbook/.
It was a pleasure working with the author, Steve Buchanan, on the book and I recommend it to anyone who currently works with, or will be working with DPM.
Congratulations Steve!

Hi All,
Today I heard that Ruud Baars, who was a great memeber of the DPM community working for Microsoft, lost his battle with lung cancer over the weekend. I worked with Ruud many times during my many DPM experiences and I can say with certainty that he will be missed.
Please read Jason Buffington's full tribute to Ruud here, http://blogs.technet.com/b/jbuff/archive/2011/03/21/rest-in-peace-ruud-baars.aspx.

If you're at MSS this year, please come and visit me and Mike Resseler (MVP) on Monday afternoon when we present BB36 -

Looking through the session catalogue for MMS this year, I have found that the superb MS speaker, Jason Buffington, will be giving a session on DPM 2012. The session is named "A First Look at Data Protection Manager 2012" and can be viewed here, http://www.mms-2011.com/topic/details/BB18.
It is a very early look, pre Beta, but still a session I think will be well worth attending!
Look forward to seeing you there.

Last week at TechEd Jason Buffington gave another great DPM session, MGT308 - Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2010 in the Datacenter. This session primarily focused on leveraging DPM's protection and recovery capabilities in large datacenters and is well worth viewing.
Even though TechEd Europe was only last week, it is already available to view now! Visit Jason's blog post for more details on the session and view the recording. http://blogs.technet.com/b/jbuff/archive/2010/11/11/dpm-2010-session-at-teched-europe-2010.aspx.
Enjoy.

I was informed recently by MS that the licensing of DPM had changed and I was getting some information together to write a post about it when Jason Buffington posted all the details on his blog yesterday. So rather than wasting my time writing up the same information as Jason, I might as well just point you at his licensing post.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/jbuff/archive/2010/06/23/dpm-2010-licensing-info.aspx
The major change is that you no longer need to purchase a license for your DPM server. With DPM 2007 you would have purchased your DPM management licenses for the...
