Hello All,

One of the most frequently asked questions around DPM is "can I protect my virtual machines through VMWare?" and usually the answer is no.  However, Mike over at the Belgium System Center User Group (http://scug.be) has put together a great article on how you can protect VMWare virtual machines using either DPM 2007 or DPM 2010.

Although DPM can't provide the same level of protection on VMWare as it can on Hyper-V, it might still be enough to meet some of the backup requirements you may have.  Check out the full article here, http://scug.be/blogs/scdpm/archive/2010/04/08/backup-vmware-virtual-machines.aspx.

Also remember though that you can also protect Windows machines on VMWare by deploying an agent to the guest directly.  Where Mike's guide is great is that it provides another option if you are unable to deploy an agent.

Great work Mike :-)
